We have completed a prestigious newspaper bundle conveyor system from the one of the UKs biggest national newspaper, Daily Mail for their new printing plant comprising of six printing press and bundle copy stacking lines out to 4 palletisation lines.
The contract required us to develop two new bundle sorting conveyor modules which we named the ML85 that take the strapped bundles for three lines and distribute to either one or two high speed palletisers.
The system usually feeds the production to two palletisers at a combined speed of 85 bundles per min but if one stops the bundles are immediately sent to the other palletiser and once the stopped palletiser re starts, the ML85 automatically restarts to distribute bundles to it.
It is essential for a major national daily newspaper like the Daily Mail has continuation of production without stopping as the newspapers must be loaded for distribution in the short print time to outlets for their customers from early in the morning.
The two ML85 conveyors use roller ball technology and a combination of very fast acting Interroll synchronous stop start motors to a program developed by Palletiser Ltd to switch bundles from the three input conveyors to the two palletiser infeeds.
Palletiser also designed and installed all the conveyor lines and used an ASI –BUS line control and line safety which simplified cabling over the 1oo metres of pack conveyors and allows for the Daily Mail to make future changes with ease.
